The New Touchstones of Multi-Cultural Golfing?

Sheila C. Johnson’s Salamander Hospitality recently purchased Innisbrook Golf Resort outside of Tampa, Florida for an estimated $35 million. One of Innisbrook’s four courses is Cooperhead, the links upon which the PGA Tour’s PODS Championship is played. In February hardwood legend Julius Erving purchased Heritage Golf Club located just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. With these purchases Ms. Johnson and Mr. Erving have become two of a handful of African-Americans who own golf courses. The Green Magazine applauds their contributions to our community, as well as to the game that we love. What would you suggest Ms. Johnson and Mr. Erving do to make their newly acquired enterprises centerpieces of the multi-cultural golfing community? What policies, amenities or initiatives could be put in place to make Innisbrook and the Heritage Golf Club irresistible destinations for The Green Magazine’s readership?
